Will implants make me look top-heavy?

Question and Answer:
TH of Monroeville asks: I have been considering a breast augmentation but I have large, heavy breasts and I am concerned that I will look “fat” with an implant in place. I have always felt that having large breasts tended to make me look heavier. I am looking to achieve more volume and lift rather than fullness. Is this a possibility?
Dr. Antimarino responds:
Many women have found that large implants can make them look top “heavy” and distorted. The older style implants have a wide shape with little projection to the breast. The new implants are styled to complement a woman’s shape as they are narrower with better fullness. During your consultation, be sure to have the surgeon show you all the shapes available and discuss your desired result. Sometimes a lift may be necessary to remove some tissue in the lower portion of the breast which will decrease some of the bulk giving you a more narrow, youthful appearance.
