Can you explain the brow lift? Does it lift the forehead too?
Dr. Antimarino: A brow lift restores a more youthful appearance to the face by minimizing the signs of aging seen with forehead wrinkles, creases to the face or loss of elasticity. By elevating the brow and forehead area the eyebrows are returned to their original, anatomical position. The term “forehead lift” refers to this correction. The hooding seen on the upper eyelids is also addressed with this procedure.
There are various techniques used with a brow lift. The endoscopic technique is most commonly used and the one I prefer. Small incisions are made at the temples which are hidden inside the hairline. By removing excess skin, fat, and tissue the brow is repositioned to regain a more youthful appearance.
A brow lift is done as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia. Most patients return to work after 1-2 weeks and may resume exercise after 3 weeks.
A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon is encouraged to discuss your unique surgical plan of care and review any questions or concerns you may have.
