Posted May 30, 2018
Sunday, June 3rd is National Cancer Survivors Day.
National Cancer Survivors Day is a day to stand in solidarity and support of those who have battled cancer, as well as raise awareness of the difficulties faced by survivors.
“A ‘survivor’ is anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life,” according to the National Cancer Survivors Day® Foundation, administrator for the celebration.
“Cancer Be Glammed: Recover in Style” to launch in conjuction with NCSD.
Lisa Lurie, a breast cancer survivor and the co-founder of Cancer Be Glammed is celebrating by launching her unique guidebook Cancer Be Glammed: Recover in Style at Our Clubhouse. Designed like a fashion magazine and featuring cancer survivors as models, Recover in Style provides easy, take-charge solutions to the most common appearance-related concerns that women face. These include body changes, hair loss, weight issues, skin problems, and dressing challenges following surgeries like mastectomies and ostomies. Lisa told us, “I created Cancer Be Glammed to help women struggling with all forms of cancer to recover with dignity, positive self-esteem, and personal style. I can’t think of a better day to launch Recover in Style or at a better place, Our Clubhouse. Our Clubhouse in Westmoreland and the Strip District provide a welcoming support community for anyone touched by cancer, free-of-charge.” To find out more about Cancer Be Glammed and their guidebook Recover in Style go to their website, www.CancerBeGlammed.com.
National Cancer Survivors Day
The nonprofit National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation offers free guidance, education, networking resources, and assistance to hundreds of hospitals, support groups, and other cancer-related organizations that host National Cancer Survivors Day® events in their communities. The Foundation’s primary mission is to bring awareness to the issues of cancer survivorship in order to better the quality of life for cancer survivors.
Cancer Be Glammed
Cancer Be Glammed was started by two friends, one who was battling cancer and the other who was a survivor. The two women, Lisa Lurie and Ellen Weiss Kander, realized that they couldn’t be the only ones battling the emotional side of fighting and surviving cancer. In 2009, they set out to provide women who had survived all forms of cancer with fashionable recovery products and lifestyle solutions.
