Voluma
VOLUMA is an FDA-approved injectable gel designed to add volume to the cheek area. This creates a more youthful appearance by creating contour to the jawline and adding volume with a subtle lift to the mid-face. How do I prepare for VOLUMA?
1. Is Your Provider Adequately Trained?
When considering a treatment with VOLUMA or any other cosmetic procedure, it is important to do your research and get to know the qualifications of your injector. You should be comfortable with your provider, and they should understand your treatment goals. Open communication is key. If you have any questions about the products to be used, the areas to be treated, or post-treatment care, your provider can answer those concerns for you prior to treatment. Feeling comfortable with your provider is an important part of your treatment. Your procedure should be done in an accredited medical spa that is clean and well-maintained.
2. Be Comfortable with Your Provider
Your provider should educate you on your procedure and answer any questions you may have prior to beginning your treatment. Feel comfortable asking how many times they have performed the procedure and ask to view previous patient photos. COMMUNICATION IS KEY!
Know what to expect:
1.Is the treatment painful?
The truth is that everyone has a different threshold of pain. Some patients have no pain at all, while others describe the pain as minimal. The good news is a topical anesthetic and/or ice packs can be applied prior to your procedure, helping to minimize any possible discomfort.
2. When will I see results?
Patients may experience mild swelling, redness, minimal bruising, and/or tenderness to touch. Swelling may last a few days, with bruising, if it occurs, lasting about a week. The area that is treated can feel lumpy, but this typically smooths out over the first few weeks. Your provider should review with you any areas of concern and who to contact should you have any questions. Results can be seen immediately post-injection.
3. How long does Voluma last?
Voluma typically lasts around 9-12 months. The longevity can depend on several factors, such as how fast your body metabolizes the product. If you have a higher metabolic rate, the filler may not last as long. Product longevity can also be affected by how often you animate the area that is being treated. Patients should maintain a healthy lifestyle, staying hydrated and getting plenty of rest to allow for optimum results in their area of treatment.
