What can I expect from a Vivace treatment? 

Vivace technology uses fractional radiofrequency (RF). This microneedling treatment is intended for the face, neck, chest and back of hands. It can also treat small body areas.  The procedure creates micro-wounds to the epidermis. These tiny “wounds” improve the appearance of rough texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and depressed scars, such as acne scars along with superficial pigments. 

The Vivace device induces skin rejuvenation by heating the dermis and stimulating collagen generation and replenishment. Overall, depending on the area of your face or body being treated, the treatment is well-tolerated. In some cases, the microneedling is virtually painless 

When it comes to the actual treatment, you may feel a mild prickling sensation. Our medical aesthetician may apply a topical anesthetic to your skin prior to the treatment to reduce pain and discomfort. 

Following the treatment, your skin will appear pink or red for a few hours, much like a sunburn.  In addition, there is a slight possibility of minor bleeding and bruising depending on the aggressiveness of the procedure. Your skin may also feel warm, tight and itchy for a short period of time, but should dissipate within 12-48 hours. 

Potential Side Effects

As with any procedure, there are potential side effects. The potential side effects of this treatment are: local pain, skin redness (erythema), swelling (edema), damage to the natural skin texture such as blisters, change of skin pigmentation, and pinpoint bleeding or scarring. These side effects are rare and expected to be temporary.

Does it hurt?

The medical aesthetician performing the procedure may apply a numbing cream so the patient will feel little more than light pressure to the face and a light sparking feeling on occasion.

The Personalized Compounded Numbing Cream can be applied before the treatment to ensure a comfortable experience. Most testimonials provided indicate patients finding the treatment comfortable to virtually pain-free.

Is it safe?

The Vivace Fractional Microneedling RF is FDA approved. It is recommended that the patient seek a medical professional that has been specifically trained to use the device.

How many treatments will I need for the best results?

The majority of physicians find three treatments provide the best experience for patients. These treatments are typically 4-6 weeks apart.  A yearly maintenance program should be followed once the desired results have been achieved.

How long does an individual treatment take?

Numbing takes 15 minutes and the actual treatment takes about 45 minutes.

How soon can I resume wearing makeup?

Patients typically go without makeup for hours post-treatment. To maximize the treatment during the first 4-6 hours, we suggest using the Soothe Weekly Mask and Soothe Recovery System. It is recommended that the patient wait at least six hours before applying makeup, possibly even waiting until the next morning.

Will it work on all skin types?

The majority of skin colors and types can be treated, ranging from fair to tanned and high-melanin skin.
