Plastic Surgery “Tweakments”

What is a “tweakment”?
“Tweakment” is a term that is being used to refer to minor procedures or treatments that address cosmetic issues and can be done safely in an office setting. Laser therapy, injectables, Botox, and other medical spa treatments may fall under the heading “tweakments”. As a plastic surgery practice, tweakments can include those procedures that may require the use of a local anesthetic and are performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon. Minor procedures such as scar revisions and removal of skin lesions have routinely been performed in an office setting, but now small cosmetic procedures are being safely done with beautiful results.
What can a tweakment do for me?
Using a local anesthetic that is injected under the skin and sterile technique, these procedures can address areas of the face and neck. These simple procedures can also be done in combination with dermal fillers and neurotoxins to create the patients desired aesthetic result.
The outer eyebrow can be raised, and crow’s feet softened by using a small incision in the temporal hairline. These incisions are generally covered by the hair, so they are not visible. Most patients can return to work almost immediately and back to exercising within a couple of weeks.
Some mild tightening of the jowls can be done with short incisions around the ear. Again, the incision is mostly hidden, and patients can return to work almost immediately. There is minimal pain, bruising and swelling post procedure and results are immediately visible.
Earlobe repair or reshaping can also be done as a “tweakment”. Many times, this can be used to correct the size of the earlobe or mild tears that have occurred from a torn earring hole.
Injectables can be used to enhance contours as well as reshape areas of the face. Injectable rhinoplasties can correct minor contour defects giving the nose the desired shape or projection. The cheek area and jawline can be enhanced and defined with the addition of an injectable product. These results can last anywhere between 12-24 months depending upon the product used to create the enhancement.
A consultation with the provider is an excellent opportunity to discuss your desired results and available treatment options. It is also the time to have any questions or concerns you may have addressed by the provider. By checking credentials and viewing previous results you should feel comfortable and secure with your provider and treatment plan.
