Post-Operative and Therapeutic Massage

Each massage therapist is trained in manual lymphatic drainage, which helps reduce post-operative swelling by accelerating the normal flow of excess lymphatic fluid. This also increases blood flow and promotes surgical recovery through the lymphatic system. Liposuction recovery may see lumps and ridges that occur beneath the skin. The use of Swedish massage strokes can break up the lumps and promote a smooth, soft contour. Post-surgical massage can help with inflammation and scar tissue, easing the path toward healing.

Post-surgical lymphatic massage is based on gentle, constant rhythmic movement that guides post-surgical edema toward correlating lymph nodes and is believed to shorten surgical healing time. Patients may schedule their massage once the surgeon has cleared them for treatment.

Every Friday, a certified Massage Therapist from Post-Operative Massage will be available to patients from our Monroeville Aesthetic Center. Following their procedure, each surgical patient is offered a complimentary post-operative massage as a gift from Bellissimo Plastic Surgery to help with post-operative swelling and lymphatic draining.
