Scar Revision Surgery
A scar revision surgery is done to improve the contour and aesthetic appearance of a scar. While topical and minimally invasive treatment options exist, sometimes a scar will require a surgical procedure. Although a scar cannot be erased or completely removed, the quality of the scar can be very much improved. Scars that are thick, wide and/or raised can sometimes be converted to a soft, fine white line scar. The current scar is completely removed surgically and the resulting incision is closed to result in a better-quality scar.
How do I Prepare for a Scar Revision Surgery?
In your initial consultation with Dr. Antimarino, make sure to discuss your expectations for the procedure. This is the time to discuss your concerns and your goals as he will design a surgical plan specifically for you.

The use of Aspirin, Ibuprofen, or other supplements that may increase bruising should be stopped two weeks prior to surgery.

Surgery
This simple procedure can be done under local anesthesia or sedation, depending upon the patient’s preference and is done as an outpatient procedure in an accredited outpatient surgical facility.
After Surgery
Patients are discharged with a light dressing and may shower within 24 hours. Most patients can return to work the following day.
