Top Trends in Plastic Surgery for 2018
Posted February 15, 2018
Here are the growing top trends in plastic surgery this year.
With spring just around the corner, it may be time to freshen up your wardrobe or try a new hairstyle for the warmer months. You may also want to consider some refreshing or rejuvenating cosmetic options for your skin or body. When considering any surgical and non-surgical procedure, it is important to stay aware of the top trends in plastic surgery and consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can advise you of your options.
From social media before-and-afters to popular nip-and-tuck TV shows, we’ve gathered some of the top cosmetic surgery trends for 2018:
Botox is Still on Top
Out of all the procedures that men and women across the U.S. receive, BOTOX is still a top choice. Botox can assist you with improving the appearance of fine lines on your forehead, between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, and around the mouth. This injectable procedure is FDA-approved and works by temporarily blocking the muscle action that causes unwanted wrinkles.
Resurgence in Facelifts
According to the most recent Cosmetic Surgery National Data Bank Statistics survey, facelifts accounted for the top five procedures for women in 2016. A facelift can help correct sagging facial skin and may be accompanied by eyelid surgery, reshaping of the natural jawline, and fat transfer to the cheeks.
Facelifts and Fat Transfer
Many plastic surgeons use fat grafting techniques to transfer a small amount of a patient’s fat into strategic areas of the face. This facial rejuvenation technique can be used to enhance your facial volume by injecting fat into the cheeks to achieve a rounded, youthful appearance. Fat can also be injected under the lower eyelid to assist with hollowness or thin skin under the eyes.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
An injectable rhinoplasty can transform your facial profile with injectable fillers instead of the traditional surgical option. Whether you elect for a temporary or permanent filler is your choice, but this non-surgical procedure can assist with bumps, drooping tips, and mildly crooked noses.
Natural-Looking Silicone Implants
Breast implants can be performed with either silicone or saline implants. Silicone implants are made of a cohesive gel that closely resembles the weight and feel of natural breasts. Silicone is also softer and less prone to rippling than saline implants.
Male Procedures on the Rise
Over the last 15 years, the cosmetic surgery industry has seen a rising number of male patients; and 2018 is no different. Men receive plastic surgery procedures such as eyelid surgery, neck lifts, liposuction, and rhinoplasty. There are also a number of males that receive breast surgery procedures for gynecomastia or breast cancer reconstruction.
