Food in Pittsburgh
When it comes to eating in Pittsburgh, a stop at the historic Strip District Primanti Brothers is an absolute must. The original Primanti Brothers was established in 1933 and was a way for truck drivers to grab a late night/early morning handheld meal. Their specialty is a stuffed sandwich with fries and coleslaw between sliced Italian bread.
For breakfast, check out P&G Pamela’s Diner in Shadyside (or really anywhere in Pittsburgh). Pamela’s has been serving large pancakes and lyonnaise potatoes since 1980 and historically has served as a staple for visiting celebrities and United States presidents.
If you’re really looking for a variety, check out Federal Galley in Pittsburgh’s North Side. Federal Galley is a food hall with four distinct, chef-run restaurants in a large outdoor space. The four restaurant concepts in Federal Galley include Provision PGH, El Lugar, Michigan & Trumbull, and Supper, all bringing various styles of cuisine, from elevated New American fare to Detroit-style pizza, into one location. You are sure to have a great experience every time you go.
