Butt Lift
Procedure Process
& Ideal Candidates
There are two types of surgical butt lifts. A traditional butt lift is performed on patients after weight loss if their buttock is sagging due to excess skin and loss of volume. This procedure is designed to remove excess skin along the lower back and buttock and raises the buttock to the proper anatomical position.
More recently a Brazilian Buttock Lift also means adding fat to the buttocks for a rounder, fuller shape. This type of fat grafting is most commonly performed on patients that have not experienced significant weight loss and have enough fat elsewhere to use as a donor site. An ideal candidate for a buttock lift would be someone who aspires to have a rounder, perkier butt. They are at their goal weight and also seeking a more defined waistline and seeking more shape to their behind.
Additionally, you may be a good candidate for either type of buttock lift if: you feel that your butt is too small or flat or is asymmetrical and you are physically healthy and want to maintain an active lifestyle.

During your consultation, Dr. Antimarino will walk you through a series of questions to determine your concerns, goals and expectations. Dr. Antimarino will discuss any medical conditions you may have or treatments you are going through, what medications you may be taking, and any previous surgeries. Be prepared to discuss outcomes of a buttocks procedure and have the doctor take photos of your buttocks and lower back for a more accurate evaluation.
Pre-Op Care
Depending upon a patient’s age and medical condition there may be preoperative laboratory testing required. This will need to be completed within 2-4 weeks of surgery and is typically covered by the patient’s insurance. Patients are asked to maintain their usual activity level and body weight from the time of consultation to their surgical date. Patients are required to stop smoking, vaping, and the use of nicotine patches, gum, and marijuana one month prior to surgery and a minimum of one month post-surgery. Patients are also required to stop using weight loss medications 2 weeks prior to their surgery. Surgery may be canceled if guidelines are not followed.

VITALS
Surgery & Post-Op Care
SURGERY: Both versions of a buttock lift are performed under general anesthesia as outpatient procedures.
AFTER SURGERY: The traditional buttock lift has a 2 week down time. Most patients can resume exercise in 3 weeks. When combined with a tummy tuck the down time remains the same. Typically, a patient is sent home with drains for 1-2 weeks and requires compression garments for 3-4 weeks. The buttock lift involving fat grafting has a 5-6 week down time. Most patients can resume exercise in approximately 6 weeks. Patients are required to sleep on their sides and sit on a cushion for 6 weeks to allow for adequate healing.
