What To Consider When Choosing an Injectable Procedure

Schedule Your Injectable Procedure Consultation

During your consultation, your provider will walk you through a series of questions to determine your concerns, goals and expectations. They will discuss with you any medical conditions you may have or treatments you are going through, what medications you may be taking, and any previous treatments and procedures. Be prepared to discuss outcomes of an injectable procedure and your provider to take photos for a more accurate evaluation.

Injectables Care

Patients are instructed to avoid alcohol, certain herbal supplements and blood thinners such as aspirin, Motrin Advil, and Aleve (unless noted otherwise by your physician) for up to 3 days prior to a procedure. This will help minimize bruising. After your treatment you should avoid strenuous exercise, hot saunas or showers and touching, massaging or applying pressure to the treated area as these can all affect the results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Injectable procedures involve the use of substances like neurotoxins or dermal fillers that are injected into specific areas of the face or body to improve appearance. Neurotoxins smooth wrinkles by relaxing muscles, while dermal fillers restore lost volume, contour and enhance facial features.

When performed by a qualified, experienced provider, injectable procedures are generally considered safe. However, like any medical treatment, there are risks involved, such as infection, bruising, or allergic reactions. It’s important to choose a licensed and skilled practitioner to minimize risks.

The duration of results depends on the type of injectable. Neurotoxins usually last about 3-4 months. Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type and area treated. Touch-up treatments are needed to maintain results.

Most injectable procedures cause minimal discomfort. The injection may feel like a small pinch or sting. For added comfort, numbing creams or ice may be applied before the procedure, and many dermal fillers also contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to reduce pain.

After an injectable procedure, you may experience mild swelling, bruising, or redness at the injection sites. These effects usually resolve within a few hours to a few days. It’s recommended to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, or alcohol immediately after treatment to minimize the risk of complications.

Good candidates are typically healthy individuals who want to address specific aesthetic concerns like wrinkles, volume loss, or facial contours. It’s important to have realistic expectations and a consultation with a professional to determine if the treatment is appropriate based on your medical history and goals.
