Facial Rejuvenation

Procedure Process
& Ideal Candidates

Facial Rejuvenation can include a variety of procedures, both surgical and non-surgical. The ideal candidate should be healthy with a realistic expectation about what this aesthetic procedure can achieve. Ensure you discuss any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, or medications you are taking with your surgeon. Conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or blood-clotting disorders may impact your ability to undergo surgery or the healing process. Over time, aging will continue, and lifestyle factors (like sun exposure, smoking, and diet) may affect the longevity of your results. Therefore, to maintain your results you may require future minor surgical touch-ups along with some non-surgical treatments.

What To Consider

Schedule Your Facial Rejuvenation Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Antimarino will walk you through a series of questions to determine your concerns, goals and expectations. Dr. Antimarino will discuss with you any medical conditions you may have or treatments you are going through, what medications you may be taking, and any previous surgeries. Be prepared to discuss outcomes of a facial rejuvenation and to have the doctor take photos for a more accurate evaluation.

Pre-Op Care

Depending upon a patient’s age and medical condition there may be preoperative laboratory testing required. This will need to be completed within 2-4 weeks of surgery and is typically covered by the patient’s insurance. Patients are asked to maintain their usual activity level and body weight from the time of consultation to their surgical date. Patients are required to stop smoking, vaping, and the use of nicotine patches, gum, and marijuana one month prior to surgery and a minimum of one month post-surgery. Patients are also required to stop using weight loss medications 2 weeks prior to their surgery. Surgery may be canceled if guidelines are not followed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Facial rejuvenation can include a variety of procedures, both surgical and non-surgical. Common surgical options include facelift surgery, eyelid surgery, (blepharoplasty), brow lifts, neck lift, and facial fat grafting. The appropriate procedure depends on the patient’s goals, the areas they want to improve, and the severity of their concerns.

The right procedure depends on factors such as your age, skin condition, the extent of aging or volume loss, and your personal aesthetic goals. During a consultation, Dr. Antimarino  will assess your facial structure, discuss your concerns, and recommend the most suitable treatment or combination of treatments to achieve the best results.

Recovery times vary depending on the procedure. For example, a facelift may require 2 to 3 weeks of recovery, while a surgery like eyelid surgery or brow lifts may involve swelling and bruising for up to two weeks.

Surgical procedures like facelifts and eyelid surgery can provide long-lasting results, often for 8 to 10 years, but they do not stop the aging process.

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks associated with facial rejuvenation, including infection, bleeding, and scarring. However, when performed by a skilled and experienced surgeon, these risks are minimized.

Many patients worry about looking unnatural or “overdone” after facial rejuvenation. However, Dr. Antimarino will aim to achieve a subtle, natural-looking result that will enhance your features without making you look overly altered.

What Our Patients Are Saying

Surgery & Post-Op Care

Facial Rejuvenation can include Facelift, Neck lift, Upper and Lower Eyelid surgery, Brow Lift, and Fat grafting. In many instances a combination of these procedures can be done in one surgery to rejuvenate the entire face. Surgery is done in an outpatient setting at an accredited surgical center. Some procedures are done under general anesthesia while others can be done under local anesthesia. The surgery can take one to four hours, depending on the combination of procedures being performed. Patients may be sent home with a dressing and/or head wrap. No drains are required on any of the facial rejuvenation procedures. Patients are discharged from the surgical center approximately one to one and a half hours after surgery.

Post operative instructions will be given upon discharge to both the patient and the family and are also provided in the patient’s pre-operative packet. The surgical dressing will be changed at the first postoperative appointment. Further instructions are given at each postoperative appointment, so it is very important that patients show up for their scheduled appointments. Typically, a patient may return to exercise in 3-4 weeks and return to work can vary depending upon the procedure(s), and type of work involved. Patients are advised throughout the process to avoid smoking, vaping, and the use of nicotine or marijuana as these will negatively affect post operative healing and can lead to open wounds and poor scarring.
