Virtue (Microneedling combined with Radiofrequency) VS. CoolPeel+ (CO2 Laser)

This or That?
A provider can use each device to give a very specific, individualized treatment based on the patients’ needs. Combined as a package, the results can be remarkable, especially when treating tough scars or deep lines. So, let’s break them down and discuss each one individually.
Virtue (Microneedling with Radiofrequency):
This device allows the provider to fully customize your treatment with multiple settings, handpieces, and depths. It is used to visibly improve skin tone, tighten skin, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Microneedling with Radiofrequency works by applying sterile microneedles deep in the skin’s dermis, where the collagen and the elastic bundles of the skin reside. These needles stimulate collagen production by creating microscopic channels. They can also deliver radiofrequency heat energy at the desired depth to promote remodeling of the collagen and elastin to tighten and lift the skin.
Virtue uses robotic precision delivery, so the insertion of the needles to the skin is exact and creates no tearing or trauma. Numbing cream is used before the treatment, so there is very minimal discomfort. One of the key benefits of the Virtue treatment is no social downtime. The skin may appear red for a few hours, but the post-care regimen works to soothe the skin, so most patients only notice a tightening and glow to their skin. We recommend no makeup for 24 hours and always encourage sunscreen use.
Another benefit to the Virtue is that the collagen you build is your own, so the results are natural, immediate, and will continue to improve with time. It can take up to 4-6 weeks to see the full benefit of the treatment. Most providers recommend a series of 3 – 4 treatments scheduled 4 – 6 weeks apart. To maintain the results, it is recommended to have a treatment every six months.
CoolPeel+ (CO2 Laser):
The CoolPeel+ laser treatment is done using a Tetra CO2 laser. This laser penetrates through the outer layer of the skin, the epidermis, to the superficial level of the dermis. This device has the precision and control to deliver energy at the right depth and speed for superficial skin resurfacing without damaging the surrounding skin. The laser beams produce heat that injures the outer skin and the collagen and elastin bundles of the dermis.
A candidate for this device is looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and sun damage, minimize pores, and improve the skin texture to look younger and healthier. Overall, the skin’s texture is significantly smoother with a more uniform pigment and tone.
The provider will use a numbing cream before the treatment for comfort measures. There is minimal downtime with the lower settings and depth level, which the provider can then increase each treatment based on the patients’ desired results. Typically, a patient will be a little red post-treatment, as if you have a sunburn, and this may last a few days. Your skin will feel dry and scaly, a bit like sandpaper, for a few days as it heals. It is important to keep the skin hydrated. A patient should return to their normal activities within 1-2 days. They may have minimal swelling and redness that will resolve over the next few days. Sunscreen is very important, and we ask patients to stay out of the sun for a few weeks to allow for optimum results.
Combined Treatment
Combining these two treatments gives the patient the benefit of treating the skin superficially at the epidermis and deeper at the dermis level. In addition, collagen and elastin are both stimulated for tightening and lifting the skin and addressing the texture and tone of the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and removing damaged skin at the superficial level.
