Neck Lift | Pittsburgh, PA
One of the first signs of aging in the face is laxity or wrinkles to the neck. As we age our skin begins to thin and lose its elastic properties. We see this as excess skin or refer to it as the “waddle”. Many times this may be the only change the patient notes in their appearance, while the rest of the face appears to remain unchanged. A Neck Lift is used to enhance the appearance of the neck and under the jawline. It is done to reduce the look of sagging skin and create more definition along the jawline.
SURGERY: A Neck Lift procedure takes approximately two hours to perform. This is done in an outpatient procedure with anesthesia using IV sedation.
AFTER SURGERY: The downtime associated with a neck lift is approximately two weeks and the patient may return to exercise within three weeks. A patient may be discharged wearing a chin strap that is usually worn for two weeks. This chin strap gives the patient better support, improves circulation, and provides for better contouring.
